Farm with approximately 20,000 m2, located in the parish of Santo António da Serra, in the municipality of Santa Cruz. It has a forest area where cryptomerias, pine trees, cedars, laurels, and others predominate. The house was designed and built by my parents, materializing a family dream, and was completed in 2005.

It has been the setting for many moments of pure happiness, spent in a family environment and socializing with friends, something that the farm invites you to do in harmony with the local fauna and flora. The house has a mezzanine that overlooks the living room, a privileged space for leisure, reading, and games, featuring two game tables and a billiard table. The farm has an orchard with fruit trees, including apple trees, pear trees, and lemon trees. It also has a vineyard area with kiwis, and there are plum trees, almond trees, cherimoya trees, and avocado trees spread across the farm.

Adjacent to the main house, there is a barbecue area with a spacious grill and oven, allowing for the preparation of the typical Madeiran “espetada” (skewered beef) on a “laurel stick,” and cooking traditional local dishes in a wood-fired oven.

The barbecue area is available by prior arrangement, subject to availability, and has a usage fee.

Our guests can be part of the farm’s daily life, interacting with the workers, helping with fruit picking, feeding the animals, and participating in other activities they wish. Near the house, there are several levadas (irrigation channels), including Levado dos Tornos, Levada da Morena, and Vereda do Alvoredo, among others.

In the surroundings of the farm, there is Vieira bakery, which bakes bread using wood-fired ovens, producing the famous “pão de casa” with sweet potato and Bolo do Caco. Our guests have the opportunity to order these on Saturdays and Sundays, and can also, by prior arrangement and subject to availability, visit the bakery to observe the entire artisanal baking process.

It is also important to mention the golf course, which is inseparable from the parish of Santo António da Serra. Its famous golf course, inaugurated in 1937 and redesigned in 1991 by English golf architect Robert Trent Jones, is located about 15 minutes by car from Quinta do Avô Manuel.
